A very memorable experience with the best sound I’ve ever experienced. Adam and Bob were very informative and personable. The listening rooms were ideal to experience a wide range of set ups and circumstances for immediate comparison. Would highly recommend them to anyone aspiring for great sound advice and service.

I spent 5hrs demoing a multitude of kit in one of Reference's 4 demo' rooms. Adam and Bob couldn't have been more welcoming, genuinely interested and helpful, not to mention supremely patient. I'm a perfectionist - I regret supreme patience is a fundamental requisite around me. Nothing was too much trouble and the guys looked after me when I needed it and left me alone to listen when I needed that. No pressure at any time meant I could just relax and focus on sound. I could easily have spent all day there if not for a 200 mile trip home. (I stayed in a local Premier Inn the night before, so I was fresh for my session). It was worth every penny. I heard more in that session and came away better informed than the last 10yrs have brought. Bob and Andy have so many years of experience and in depth knowledge of the vast range of high quality kit they stock, we were able to, fairly quickly, grasp what would likely work with what to create a sound with which I'd be truly happy. Thanks to the demo' time, I no longer have to work my way through time-consuming and expensive mistakes. Instead, the next steps are clear. My unfettered recommendation is don't put too much store in reviews and comment threads, whether by 'professionals' or in forums; make final decisions based on a visit to Reference or their sister company, Nintronics and what you hear - because your ears are different to everyone whose comments you've read. Absolutely fantastic place in the heart of Essex. Spent the whole afternoon in one of their very comfortable listening suites. The staff got the balance of being helpful and informative and giving me the space to listen absolutely perfectly. At no point did they try and upsell me anything. They listened to what I was after and then lined up a potential list of candidates for me to try. And try I did. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you are looking for decent spec, higher end, audio equipment in Essex then you have to get yourself down to reference audio for a visit. I’ve tried numerous other places and this place is simply the best in every way.

Having purchased my Gryphon Diablo 120 from their extensive ex demo stock, for which I received a great deal. I visited the team at Reference (Adam, Bob) to audition my chosen integrated amp coupled with a range of appropriately priced speakers and to seek their advice on future paths moving forward. Their facilities in Essex is impressive. Hosting a large range of quality hifi components, which other dealers seem to be unable to match. It enabled me to audition a number of different speaker manufacturer's whilst seeking their expert advice on the various options at different price points. I shall be visiting Reference Audio again. I visited Reference Audio a few weeks ago and was looking to get back into listening to Quality HIFI. I am a high energy kind of person and was so pleased to meet Mitch who was exactly the same as me, 'kid in a sweet shop' kind of passion. We talked about what I wanted from a HIFI and component technology. Mitch put together a suggestion of components and we agreed to meet the following week and listen to the 'goodies' in their purpose made listening room. I decided to go for a Macintosh amps and a Sonus Faber set up for the speakers, which was very immersive, absolutely stunning sound stage and playback quality a 'must have' combination. I thoroughly recommend visiting Mitch and Adam because this is customer service and knowledge of HIFI at its very best. 5 Stars all round.

Reference audio are one of the best hi-fi stores I've ever been too! First of all, the showroom is massive! The amount of high-end audio equipment in the multiple showrooms and the range of speakers and amps is just immense. It's truly an audiophile's playground and the service from Mitch, Adam and the team is truly above and beyond. They allowed me to test multiple speakers and units without question that were not available anywhere else and catered to all my needs to ensure I had an awesome experience. They truly care about the customer and are passionate about the industry and know their stuff. Any question about any product and they are there to give you advice and help you out. After sales is also amongst the best I have ever experienced. One of the best hi-fi experiences I have had! Others take notice!

The demo rooms are superb and I couldn’t believe the range of equipment they have available to listen to. Faultless I can’t think of a negative thing to say about Adam & Mitch. They are running an incredible shop, with a widest selection of brands / sound signatures to choose from. What stood out to me. Is the passion that both Adam & Mitch have about HiFi. They took time to recommend different components based off of my reaction to each addition / subtraction, tailoring the set-up to find the best sound to my personal ear; which of course is different for everyone. Above all else, they are genuine and honest. Easy 5*
